I know I briefly mentioned this in Blog Post #2 but I wanted to expand on this subject a bit more. LGBTQ+ is valid for many reasons… 1. Personal identity Identity matters to a lot of people, and nobody should bully people for just being bi or gay or non binary. 2. My body, my choice. No matter if your parents are forcing you in general, your body and life is always your first in your priority list. No matter what. 3. Love is love and gender identity is gender identity It is what it is. And don’t be ashamed These are just a FEW examples of how lgbtq+ is valid. Another thing! If you are planning to come out to your parents or friends, just know that you might get a bad reaction, it’s really a 50/50 in my opinion. When I came out to my friends, they icked and ewwed and a lot of people called me transgender even before I came out so it was like they just, really didn’t care to talk to me about it but to bully me about it. And it’s okay! You can’t change the way people think about thin...
Identity is more then a word we use to describe ourselves, but its more of a backstory and truth to you. And we all have one thing in common, unless your a perfect person, we have lied to people all our lives about who we really are, including me. And don't be ashamed because someday you will stumble upon open minded people with things in common. You just have to have the flicker for hope in you to keep going. So, lets go back to my question of "what does identity mean to you". Does it mean to you your true-self, a word with a definition of being you. Repeat that to yourself a...
Now let’s take cultural assimilation for a example, it’s popular for example speak English in America or have unhealthy diets (no offense lol) but just because it’s a POPULAR OPINION doesn’t mean it’s the best opinion. It could cause, medical problems or cultural difficulties. Yeah, you could fit in but you shouldn’t just let go of your culture and your personality. Or another type of example is being at school and a lot of people are picking on a kid because i don’t know, they want to for some reason. Now would you go with the popular opinion-to bully people or the unpopular and looked down opinion, not picking on them and speaking out. And don’t lie, most of you guys would pick the popular opinion. And I’m not gonna judge, because at some point, I did too. But what to understand is: your decisions could have a negative or positive effect on you and you might be asking, “Rune? If it affects my lifestyle and not theirs, why does it affect them?” Well see here, it’s like the...
