Blog Post #5: Just Because it’s a popular choice doesn’t mean it’s the right decision
Now let’s take cultural assimilation for a example, it’s popular for example speak English in America or have unhealthy diets (no offense lol) but just because it’s a POPULAR OPINION doesn’t mean it’s the best opinion. It could cause, medical problems or cultural difficulties. Yeah, you could fit in but you shouldn’t just let go of your culture and your personality.
Or another type of example is being at school and a lot of people are picking on a kid because i don’t know, they want to for some reason. Now would you go with the popular opinion-to bully people or the unpopular and looked down opinion, not picking on them and speaking out. And don’t lie, most of you guys would pick the popular opinion. And I’m not gonna judge, because at some point, I did too.
But what to understand is: your decisions could have a negative or positive effect on you and you might be asking, “Rune? If it affects my lifestyle and not theirs, why does it affect them?” Well see here, it’s like the domino effect, probably most of you guys have a good or bad reputation. So it will affect the way other people look at you and trust you and value your friendship. But it all matters if you do the right decision.
And yes, sometimes bad decisions COULD give you good reputation on one side, but it’s not going to do ANY good to the whole. So just think in your mind, would you choose to do the right thing or the bad thing. And you don’t have to like comment about it and everything but I just want all of you to know your true self.
Have a good day- Rune
